ORGANIZATIONAL UNITS

Add different bank holidays for multiple countries

The Organizational Unit section of your application is designed to manage different units within your organization. Each unit can have its own set of bank holidays and be linked to individuals to account for global working hours and holiday schedules.
The correct availability information for the employees is useful when measuring utilization metrics in the Reports.

You can set one of the organizational units as the default. This is typically the standard unit to which new users are assigned by default.

ADD NEW ORGANIZATIONAL UNITS

  1. Log in as a user with an owner role.

  2. Go to Settings -> Organizational Unit (requires owner role).

  3. To create a new unit, click the Add new field.

  4. After typing the new unit's name, you can grant access rights by selecting the checkbox labeled Grant access.

  5. Click the plus icon to save.

Understanding the Grant Access Feature

The 'Grant Access' checkbox is an important setting that sets the access to the newly created unit to all Team Members in the organization
With access, team members with manager and owner roles can view people and projects tied to the unit directly on their calendars and reports.
For team members with a regular role, the access allows them to select managers from that unit as approvers for vacation requests and choose from projects within that unit when submitting timesheets.

Additionally, each team member's access is individually managed in their settings.

This ensures a streamlined and cohesive visibility and interaction across various elements of the organization's operations, tailored by unit and user role.

Note

When a new Organizational Unit is created within the platform, access to this unit is automatically granted to all Team Members with the Owner role. This occurs regardless of the state of the 'Grant access' checkbox at the time of the unit's addition. This design choice underscores our commitment to maintaining a streamlined workflow and ensuring that Owners, as primary stakeholders in organizational management, have uninterrupted access to all organizational resources.

THE FINAL RESULT

Notice that bank holidays are set for specific dates for different individuals. For instance, Amanda Haley has her bank holidays assigned on the 29th of March, while Artur Gutkowski and Coleman Kunde have their bank holiday on the 14th, 22nd, and 31st of March, each reflected appropriately in the calendar.

ASSIGN ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT TO PROJECTS

Projects can have their visibility limited by assigning them to specific Organizational Units. By default, projects are not assigned to any Units and are visible to all Team Members across the organization. This feature allows for more targeted sharing of projects, ensuring that only relevant Team Members can access specific project information, thus enhancing privacy and focus within teams.
